Massive congrats goes to our friend Martin Rich for this stunning Buffalo caught in Texas!

“So last Friday I payed James King a visit to a swim he’s been working on, it’s a nice spot but I wasn’t 100% sold having not fished it before…this changed quickly thought, as I actually caught the biggest Buffalo I’ve ever seen on the bank! …But only after a few nervous minutes after nearly losing it in a weed bed. So here’s my new pb caught on an American Carp Society Barnaby’s revenge snowman."

Martin capture can be seen on our November homepage as he is our ‘Featured Angler’ for this month…Congrats Bro!

November will see a bait restock on the store of the Asterbury Creme range...Bottom baits, Tigers, One shot, Spray and a few other new items in the range will be released for everyone. We appreciate all of your patience as we continue to improve on the availability of the bait... It has been back-ordered, because it is freshly rolled by hand each month with a great deal of love and attention to detail. We put only the very best, fresh ingredients into our bait range, we don't cut corners or use fillers and will continue in this approach in every aspect of what we do, whilst being able to have more availability for everyone. The results have been wonderful over this past year and we love seeing all of your catch reports and social media tags...Please keep them coming in! Some of you will have already received your membership samples of the newest addition to the family 'Mandala Gold'... the next in the Barnaby's Revenge bait range to be released in 2021...a special bait that is freshly made in the USA!

A new range of 'Boosted Artificials' will be available soon for our members in our Asterbury Creme flavor. Infused 'Corn' and 'Grubs' in multiple colors will be available on the store this November just in time for the chubby winter carp. A great choice fished on their own or a combination presentation as a 'top off' with some of the Asterbury Creme bottom baits for critical balance.

off to a great start with premier angler

The American Carp Society has recently formed a relationship with the online fishing publication Premier Angler.  Our first article with them was published in early October.  Premier Angler offers unique and informative freshwater fishing news, stories and resources to hundreds of thousands of fishing enthusiasts across the country.  They aim to provide a comprehensive digital resource network that helps anglers catch more fish. With the American Carp Society's recent partnership, their webpage will now include extensive educational content to its readers concerning the ever growing sport of catch-and-release carp angling in the USA.

We feel that the outstanding angling that is presented by American Carp Society members deserves public recognition.  In the coming months, our members will be offered opportunities to write and publish work that will help to raise the profile of our beloved fish to fishing enthusiasts everywhere.  This will allow some of your captures and stories to be shared to an ever widening audience and can help to establish you within the US Angling Industry.

Keep an eye on your email and our Official Facebook Group in the coming months for opportunities to participate.

You can read the American Carp Society's first article with Premier Angler, “What is the American Carp Society? A Closer Look” here:

a word on cicadas

By Brandon Tourigny

Carp fly fishing is not traditional fly fishing if one defines the term by the way the sport was conducted 200 years ago. Even those who have never seen a fly rod can envision the majestic scene of a lone trout rising to sip a mayfly off the water, if asked to describe the sport. The history of fly fishing is steeped in a dry fly anglers world. As carp anglers this type of thing is a rarity. Yet there is one event around the US that will turn the most ardent dry fly purist into a carp fanatic… the 17-year cicada hatch.

Before I continue I have to confess that I’ve never experienced a cicada hatch. Though first-hand stories of this hatch that I have heard are legendary. This is an event which every serious carp on the fly angler should have on their bucket list. Once every 17 years broods of cicadas emerge in different regions of the country and swarm the surrounding areas. When these oversized bugs hit the water, something snaps inside carp and makes a very intelligent fish lose a lot of sense.

Anglers who are lucky enough to experience a cicada hatch should expect to fish with very large cicada patterns that are supposed to smack the water enough to make a loud plop. Carp key in on the sound and hunt down the fly with an aggression they otherwise would never have. One could imagine what a sight that must be to behold.

To find out more about the 17-year cicada hatch, and when it is coming to your area go to the website cicadamania.com
